On January 6, a delegation from Baku Engineering University (BEU) in Azerbaijan, led by Vice President Atraba Gul, visited our university. Vice President Wang Feng attended the meeting and delivered a welcoming speech. Zhang Bing, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, introduced our university, while Li Qifang, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of International Education, chaired the meeting. Both sides signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Wang Feng’s Address
Wang Feng extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Baku Engineering University. He highlighted the solid foundation and promising prospects for China-Azerbaijan cooperation in education, science, technology, and culture. Wang expressed his hope for the two universities to seize this opportunity to foster mutual trust and develop a strong partnership. He advocated innovative collaboration models, greater integration and openness in educational resources, and broader multidisciplinary collaboration in education and research. He emphasized the importance of jointly advancing educational internationalization and contributing to the sustainable development of the “Belt and Road” Initiative.
Atraba Gul’s Address
Atraba Gul expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to communicate with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). She underscored BEU’s keen interest in adopting insights from China’s advanced educational concepts and practices. She emphasized that inter-university cooperation not only improves academic standards on both sides but also strengthens understanding and friendship between the two nations. Gul affirmed BEU’s readiness to engage in in-depth cooperation with BUCT in research, teaching, student exchange, and other areas, with the shared goal of fostering progress and development for both institutions.

The two parties held in-depth discussions on future collaboration, reaching broad agreement on potential fields and modes of cooperation. This discussion laid a solid foundation for deeper ties between BEU and BUCT in the future.

Meeting Scene
In the afternoon, the BEU delegation met with representatives and professors from School of International Education, School of Chemical Engineering, and School of Chemistry of our university. They discussed a joint Bachelor’s degree program in Chemical Engineering and explored opportunities for scientific collaboration in chemistry. Yagub Maksim oglu Piriyev, Rector of BEU, sent a video message to express his support for the cooperation. The visit enhanced mutual understanding and deepened the friendship between the two universities. Both universities pledged to advance collaboration, including launching the joint Bachelor’s degree program soon.
