The forum themed “Fusion and Innovation: Cross-Strait Creative Design of Traditional Culture” was held by Beijing University of Chemical Technology at the Conference Center of the university’s Chaoyang Campus from December 7th to December 9th. More than 30 experts and scholars from universities and research institutions across the Taiwan Strait, including Tsinghua University, Asia University, National Taipei University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, participated in the forum. Wang Feng, a Standing Committee member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an address. The forum was hosted by Li Xuemei, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Art and Design at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
Wang Feng’s Address
Wang Feng emphasized that Beijing University of Chemical Technology has always focused on the fundamental task of nurturing virtue and talent, continuously promoting the deep integration of technology and culture, and fulfilling the vital role of cultural inheritance and innovation in universities. The excellent traditional Chinese culture is a shared spiritual treasure across the Taiwan Strait, and creative design injects new vitality and energy into it. Wang pointed out that the forum provides a platform for cross-strait experts in cultural creative design to interact. Through in-depth discussions and collaboration, it is expected to contribute collectively to revitalizing and promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture in the new era.
Zhuang Yibing’s Address
Zhuang Yibing, Director of the Department of Art and Design at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, delivered a speech on behalf of the hosting institution. He emphasized that excellent traditional Chinese culture is the foundation of cross-strait cultural development. To transform and creatively enhance traditional culture, both sides of the Taiwan Strait need to work together and learn from each other. Zhuang further expressed his hope that the forum would serve as a bridge to deepen cross-strait cooperation in the field of cultural creative design, thus stimulating more innovative ideas through enhanced communication and collaboration.

During the forum, attendees engaged in an in-depth discussion on the theoretical and practical aspects of creative design in traditional culture, reaching a unanimous agreement that both sides of the Taiwan Strait possess rich resources and enormous potential in the field of creative design for excellent traditional Chinese culture.
