On November 8, the 9th meeting of the Joint Management Committee of Paris Curie Engineer School, BUCT, was held at École Centrale Lille - Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille(ENSCL). Committee Chair Tan Tianwei, President of BUCT, and Vice Chair Christian Lerminiaux, Director of Chimie ParisTech attended the meeting.
During the meeting, it was pointed out that as 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, it is also a milestone for the development of Paris Curie Engineer School. In this year, the school was certified by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur(CTI) for the first time and bore witness to the graduation of its first batch of students. The attendees voted on the minutes of the 8th meeting of the Joint Management Committee and discussed future development plan of the school based on the requirements of CTI. It was also decided that the 10th meeting would be held in Beijing in mid-to-late June, 2025. President Tan Tianwei summarized that the committee meetings have been an important platform for the two cooperative sides to discuss ways to improve their quality of education. Acknowledging the flourishing achievements of the effective cooperation, he expressed sincere hopes that both sides will further enhance communication and cooperation in student training and academic research, therefore consistently improve education quality and attract more students.
Anouk Galtayries reported on the current teaching situation of China-based temporary professors, requirements and bars for international faculty recruitment, student exchange over the past years, as well as new breakthroughs in university-enterprise cooperation and work plans for future development. Qin Peiyong made a report on the 2024 enrollment, 2025 school budget and summarized past achievements in student training.
At the signing ceremony, Tan Tianwei and Christian, respectively on behalf of the two sides, jointly signed “Supplementary Terms of the Financial Agreement of Paris Curie Engineer School, BUCT ””Double Master Agreement between Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Chimie Paris Tech-PSL - Chimie ParisTech, École Centrale Lille”. Deans of the school from both Chinese and French sides witnessed the signing of the agreements. President Tan and Thomas Maurer, Director of École Centrale Lille, jointly signed“Double Master Agreement between Beijing University of Chemical Technology and École Centrale Lille”. Witnessing the signing ceremony were both deans of the school and director of ENSCL. It is believed that the cooperation will inject new impetus into the cultivation of internationally top-notch talents in general chemical engineering.
After the signing ceremony, the delegation visited labs in École Centrale Lille, and exchanged views on future enhancement of Sino-French cooperation in science and technology. The delegation also met with student representatives from BUCT studying in ENSCL on exchange program when they were briefed on the students' study and life in France and listened to their feedbacks for the continuous improvement of the school's operation.
Chaired by Rose-Noëlle Vannier, President of Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille, the meeting was held simultaneously online and offline. Qin Peiyong, Dean of Paris Curie Engineer School, BUCT, and his French counterpart Anouk Galtayries attended it in person. Joining the meeting online were Wu Changjiang, Director of SINOPEC Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, Hao Xiaoming, Former Director of COFCO Corporation, Liu Qingya, Director of Academic Affairs, BUCT, Wang Kunfeng, Vice Dean of Graduate School of BUCT, Clément Sanchez, Academician of French Academy of Sciences, Gérard Pignault, President of CPE Lyon. Mathieu Thomas de la Pintière, Director of the International Office of École Centrale Lille sat in as a guest.
