University of Patras Delegation Visits BUCT

On October 16, Dionissois Mantzavinos, Vice President of the University of Patras, visited BUCT. The two sides engaged in in-depth conversations on cooperation in of Confucius Institute construction, and then signed agreement papers. BUCT Vice President Wang Feng received and welcomed the Vice President Mantzavions.   

After a warm welcome,  Wang Feng reviewed briefly the past cooperation between the two sides since 2018. He said that the two universities have achieved fruitful results in research cooperation, student training, and academic exchanges, especially with the jointly established the Sino-Greek Biomass Energy Laboratory. Wang also expressed his confidence in setting up a Confucius Institute in collaboration with the University of Patras, given that BUCT has accumulated rich experience in this aspect. He hoped that the cooperation will further promote educational and cultural communication and foster friendly relations between China and Greece.

Mantzavinos extended his gratitude for the warm reception and spoke highly of the past cooperative achievements between the two sides. Expressing his willingness to further cooperate with Chinese universities on behalf of the University of Patras, he believed that exchanges between the two universities will bring about more opportunities for faculties and students from both sides, and contribute to the friendly relationship between China and Greece.

Construction plan, form of cooperation and future directions relating the Confucius Institute were discussed at the meeting followed by the signing of signed agreement papers accordingly. Taking the meeting as an opportunity to enhance cooperation, the two sides both expressed willingness to step up preparations for the Confucius Institute, and to promote mutual friendship and future collaboration.

Attending the meeting were also heads of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the "Belt and Road Initiative" Global Cooperation Institute.
