Liu Guiqin, Secretary of the BUCT Party Committee, led a delegation to visit six Latin American universities on invitation from September 17 to 27 for the construction of an "open BUCT" with more exchanges and cooperation in the region. The six universities include Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana José Antonio Echeverría, Universidad de La Habana, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, University of Tolima, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia. The delegation also paid a visit to the Chinese embassy in Cuba.
At Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana José Antonio Echeverría, Cuba, the delegation held discussions with Martha Dunia Delgado Dapena, President of CUJAE, Danae Pigueiras Otero, President of the Foundation, Daniel Alfonso Robaina, the First Vice President, and Vice Presidents Ana Isabel González Santos, Anaisa Hernández González, Osney Pérez Ones, Diego de los Angeles Fernández Labrada, as well as heads of relevant departments and faculty . The two sides fully exchanged views on the initial implementation of the framework agreement of cooperation concentrating on student cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and teacher training. The delegation also paid a visit to the IT research center of CJUAE.
At Universidad de La Habana, the delegation engaged in conversations with Dionisio Zaldivar Silva, the Vice President , and heads of relevant departments on matters concerning academic cooperation in research and student exchange programs. Vice President Dionisio Zaldivar Silva signed a framework agreement of cooperation with BUCT on behalf of UH and accompanied the delegation during the campus tour.
At the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Cuba, Ambassador Hua Xin met with the delegation. Liu Guiqin introduced the background of the universities on the visit list, offering an overview of the high-quality development of schools in the new era and cooperative exchange with Cuban universities. Ambassador Hua Xin briefed the delegation on the Cuban higher education system and Sino-Cuban education interactions, expressing his strong support for BUCT to carry out communication programs with Cuban universities. Attending the meeting were also Han Lixin, Counselor of the Department of Culture, Education and Science and Na Risa, Secretary of the department.
At Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, the delegation had a meeting with William H. Lee Alardin, Vice President of UNAM, and heads of relevant departments and teacher representatives. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on student exchange and academic cooperation. At Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, the delegation held in-depth discussions on student exchange and research cooperation with President José Antonio de los Reyes Heredia, President Octavio Mercado González of the Quaymarba Campus, President Verónica Medina Bañuelos of the Iztapalapa Campus, President Gabriel Soto Cortés of the Lerma Campus, President Francsico Javier Soria López of the Sochi Mirco Campus, Vice President Gustavo Pacheco López of Outreach and International Affairs, Vice President Rafael Bojalil Parra of Scientific Research, as well as heads of relevant departments and teacher representatives. President José Antonio de los Reyes Heredia signed a framework agreement of cooperation with BUCT on behalf of UAM. The delegation was accompanied on a campus tour by Gustavo Pacheco López, Vice President for Outreach and International Affairs. Wu Xiaoyan, First Secretary of Chinese Embassy in Mexico also participated in the visit.
At the University of Tolima, the delegation had a comprehensive communication on student exchange and scientific cooperation with President Omar Albeiro Mejia Patino, Vice President Diego Alberto Polo, Vice President John Jairo Méndez, Vice President Mario Ricardo López and heads of relevant departments and teacher representatives. On behalf of the University of Tolima, President Omar Albeiro Mejia Patino signed a framework agreement of cooperation with BUCT. The delegation then visited the university's food and chemistry laboratories.
At Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the delegation engaged in conversations with heads of International Department and the Research and Laboratory Management Department, and teacher representatives on student exchanges and scientific cooperation.
