On July 19, the closing and graduation ceremony of the second round of BUCT 2024 International Science and Technology Innovation Summer School was held on Changping Campus. Attending the ceremony were Ding Lianpu, Director of the Mechanism Work Division 1 of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, Ministry of Education, Wang Feng, Vice President of BUCT, and Jin Shenghai, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Changping District, Beijing. Thirty-seven international students from Spain, Hungary, Colombia, Britain and Russia participated in the event. Li Qifang, Party Branch Secretary of School of International Education, presided over the ceremony.
Wang Feng expressed his warm congratulations to the international students on their participation and successful completion of the summer camp, as well as sincere thanks to all the teachers and students who had made contributions to this event. He pointed out that the summer camp is a precious experience of personal growth and a valuable platform for the campers to expand global horizons and improve innovation ability. Wang believed that after this event, the students must have gained a brand-new understanding of China’s traditional culture, scientific and technological advances and the warmth and friendliness of the Chinese people. Encouraging the campers to take this unforgettable experience as a treasure in life, he hoped that they would maintain the spirit of innovation and enterprise, keep pursuing their own dreams, and become cultural ambassadors of Chinese-Foreign exchanges in the future.
Ding Lianpu congratulated on the fruitful conclusion of the summer school, and expressed heartfelt respect to BUCT for its dedication to the event. He pointed out that cultural exchanges are essentially people - oriented, and are pivotal to the long-standing friendship between people from all over the world. Therefore, he sincerely hoped that through this summer camp, campers would know more about China and form bonds with China. Duan also called on the campers to enhance communication and mutual learning and deepen understanding while exchanging knowledge and skills. With concerted efforts, campers are encouraged to become cultural messengers between different countries and contribute to the peaceful development for a better world. Together, they can play a part in building a community with a shared future for mankind, one that is enduring and peaceful, universally secure, jointly prosperous, open and inclusive, clean and beautiful.

Júlia Garcia Salavert from Spain expressed her gratitude to BUCT and all its faculty members. By sharing her learning experience and personal insights, she summarized that during the camp, not only had she made prominent progress in learning chemistry, but also had the horizon-expanding opportunity to meet and discuss scientific problems with peers from all over the world . She also mentioned that she was especially touched and inspired by the camp teachers who had provided valuable guidance and support with professional knowledge and enduring patience. Affirming her love and confidence in the pursuit of scientific research, she hoped to further explore the unknown and contribute to the progress of mankind in the future.
Alqurashi Nawaf Khalil from Saudi Arabia recalled his moments in the camp and expressed thanks to BUCT for providing him with such a valuable platform for learning and exchanging ideas. Nawaf said that this experience had given him a deep understanding of the charm and strength of China’s higher education, making him determined to devote himself to scientific research. He shared the challenges he encountered and overcame during the project, putting a strong emphasis on the importance of teamwork and perseverance. Meanwhile, extending his love for Chinese culture and Chinese people, he hoped that in the future, there would be more opportunities for him to study and exchange in China.
During the performances, students from Spain delivered a passionate dance that brought the audience into a vibrant and enthusiastic world of dancing. Students from Hungary, Russia, Colombia, Indonesia and Thailand presented a Chinese Kung Fu performance. With their neat and tidy movements as well as a combination of strength and softness, they demonstrated the essence of Chinese Kung Fu to the fullest. Equally brilliant were the elegant dance of Russian students and the moving poem recitation "Youth Symphony" by Saudi Arabian and Hungarian students, adding a strong artistic touch to the closing ceremony.
Feng Jianghong, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, presented certificates to the volunteers while affirming their exemplary interpretation the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual help and progress". Zhou Yuzhe, the representative of volunteers, expressed his gratitude to BUCT and the teachers and shared his heartfelt experience and insights in the process of volunteering. He said that his participation in the volunteer work of the summer school had not only cultivated his communication and organisational skills, but also helped him to make many like-minded friends while jointly contributed to the success of the event.
In 2024, the Ministry of Education established the Chinese Government Scholarship - International Summer School Program. In order to respond to the call of the Ministry of Education, BUCT declared two international summer school programs held in June and July 2024, both of which were approved by the Chinese Government Scholarship. The programs are aimed to promote the opening up of education, step up the construction of "double first-class" and international development of BUCT, attract outstanding overseas students and increase the scale of international students. The successful completion of the closing ceremony marks the success of both summer schools.
Attending the closing ceremony were also heads from the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Changping Campus Office, School of International Education, Hou Debang College, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Economics and Management, and teachers' representatives
