On June 15, Wanhua BorsodChem held its annual Family Day event and invited students and teachers of Confucius Institute at the University of Miskolc (hereinafter referred to as “CIUM”) to the event to jointly provide a variety of cultural experience activities for employees and their families. More than 2,500 employees and their families attended the event, including Wanhua Chemical Group Senior Vice President Chen Yifeng, Senior Advisor Zhao Jide, BorsodChem Chairman Lü Hongjie, Vice Chairman Li Junyan, and President Kruppa László. CIUM’s Chinese Director Zhao Jing, along with eight staff members and assistants, participated in the event.

CIMU volunteer Tian Yuchi, students Gao Yano and Bu Gu performed on the stage. Their elegant dance and bright costumes captivated the audience, and their nativelike singing of Chinese songs showcased their talents and Chinese-learning results, and won rounds of applause from the audience.
Picture-Based Character Guessing and Character Recognition Games
Calligraphy Experience
CIMU also brought a variety of traditional Chinese cultural activities for attendees to explore and experience the charm of Chinese culture. Activities included picture-based character guessing and character recognition games, calligraphy experience, traditional Chinese clothing try-on, chopstick practice, paper folding art, and Chinese knot weaving.
In the character guessing area, CIMU teachers guided participants to recognize Chinese characters from pictures. In the calligraphy experience area, teachers provided hands-on guidance, teaching participants how to hold and use the brush to write simple Chinese characters. Many BorsodChem employees and their children were actively involved for an experience with the unique charm of Chinese characters and calligraphy.
Hanfu Try-on Experience
The traditional Chinese clothing try-on area attracted a large audience. Attendees eagerly tried on traditional outfits like Hanfu, cheongsams, and ethnic costumes, taking photos to commemorate the experience. Many BorsodChem employees expressed that it was not only a fun experience but also an opportunity to learn about Chinese history and culture.
Chopstick Bean-picking Experience
The chopstick practice area was equally lively. CIMU volunteer teachers explained the techniques of using chopsticks in detail and designed a fun bean-picking game, helping participants master basic chopstick skills through play. Many employees stated they like Chinese cuisine and have tried using chopsticks, and thought the activity provides both them and their children a chance to practice using chopsticks.
Paper Folding
Chinese Knot and Bracelet Weaving
In the paper folding and Chinese knot weaving areas, attendees created various exquisite crafts. Teachers patiently taught folding techniques, from simple to complex, with impressive results. Chinese knot weaving tested participants’ patience and skills, with many noting the charm and joy of traditional Chinese craftsmanship through the weaving process.
The Family Day event not only enhanced interaction and communication among BorsodChem employees’ families but also deepened their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture through CIMU’s involvement. BorsodChem’s leadership expressed their gratitude for CIMU’s strong support, stating that the event enriched the company’s corporate culture and created lasting, fond memories for employees’ families.
Looking ahead, BorsodChem plans to continue strengthening its cooperation with CIMU to co-host more activities rich in excellent Chinese cultural content, working together to tell the Chinese story and spread the Chinese voice.
