Prof. Jens Nielsen won the 2023 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China

Prof. Jens Nielsen was honored with the 2023 International Science and Technology Cooperation (ISTC) Award of the People’s Republic of China, with the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering serving as his primary collaborator at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

Prof. Jens Nielsen currently serves as the CEO of the BioInnovation Institute of Denmark, and a professor at Chalmers University of Technology. Additionally, he has been appointed an honorary professor at Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for soft Matter Science and Engineering. He is member of several academies, including the Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Engineering of the USA, National Academy of Sciences of the USA, National Academy of Medicine of the USA, Academy of Technical Sciences of Denmark, the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Microbiology, American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Prof. Nielsen has over three decades of expertise in metabolic engineering, industrial biotechnology, synthetic biology and systems biology with more than 900 publications in high-impact journals, including Nature, Science, Cell. Meanwhile, with Beijing University of Chemical Technology as the first affiliation he has contributions in more than 30 publications in high-impact journals, including Cell, Cell Research, Nature Catalysis, Nature Communications. His papers have been cited by more than 119,000 times (current H-factor 158), and he was identified as a highly cited researcher from 2015 to 2023. He has also received over 20 Chinese and international awards, including the Chinese Government Friendship Award, the Nature Mentor Award, the ENI Award, the Eric and Sheila Samson Prime Minister Prize, the Novozymes Prize, and the Gold Medal from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
