Third International Process Intensification Conference (IPIC3) Held in Beijing

 From May 28 to 31, the Third International Process Intensification Conference (IPIC3) was successfully held in Beijing. The conference was jointly organized by Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Tsinghua University, the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and the Beijing Petroleum Society. Co-organizers included the Chemical Process Intensification Committee and the Chemical Engineering Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, East China University of Science and Technology, North University of China, Jiangsu University, Dalian University of Technology, Tianjin University, and Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. The conference was chaired by Academician Chen Jianfeng from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Academician Sun Lili from China Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., Professor Luo Guangsheng from Tsinghua University, Researcher Yang Chao from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lu Chunxi from China University of Petroleum (Beijing). Professor Ren Zhongqi from Beijing University of Chemical Technology served as the executive chairman.

 The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Jianfeng. Welcome speeches were delivered by Liu Guiqin, Fang Xiangchen, and Georgios Stefanidis. Keynote speeches were presented by Marc-Olivier Coppens, David A. Weitz, Costas Pantelides, Sohrab Rohani, Georgios Stefanidis, and Chen Jianfeng, covering cutting-edge topics in chemical process intensification such as microchemical engineering, plasma technology, supergravity, and artificial intelligence. In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference featured four parallel sessions on fundamental theory, equipment and process, applied technology, and industrial innovation. The conference included a total of 45 keynote reports, 29 invited reports, 95 oral presentations, and 99 poster presentations.

 Since its preparation, the conference has received widespread attention and support from the academic and industrial chemical engineering communities, with over 300 paper abstracts submitted. Participants from 21 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Greece, Japan, India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, actively engaged in academic exchanges and discussions, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere. Experts from the industry accounted for 20.3% of the participants.

 The conference awarded two Industrial Innovation Awards to the team of Professor Guo Kai from Nanjing Tech University and the team of Fadhli Hadana from PETRONAS in Malaysia. Six outstanding students were each awarded a cash prize of 5000 RMB, and 20 excellent poster awards were presented. About 100 volunteers from Beijing University of Chemical Technology provided excellent services for the conference. The conference was sponsored by four companies, including Starflow Control Limited.

 The Third International Process Intensification Conference (IPIC3) concluded successfully, facilitating the exchange of research achievements and experiences, and the discussion and analysis of the latest advancements in the field of chemical process intensification. The conference significantly contributed to the rapid development of this field.
