Opening Ceremony of U.S.-China People-to-People Exchange Program “PROJECT-GO” Held in BUCT

On the morning of June 4th, the opening ceremony of U.S.-China People-to-People Exchange Program “PROJECT-GO” between Beijing University of Chemical Technology(BUCT) and University of Worcester(UW) was held in BUCT Center Conference Room. Director Mao Lixin of International Exchanges and Cooperation Department, UW Program Executive Champion Zheng Huili, Vice-director Wang Yongsheng of International Exchanges and Cooperation Department, Director Hao Xiaomei of TCSL Research Center, as well as teachers from International Affairs Office and TCSL Research Center, foreign college students and volunteers attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Director Mao delivered a welcome speech.  She pointed out that U.S.-China People-to-People Exchange Program was an important achievement made by China-U.S. High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange which provided an excellent platform for teachers and students of both sides to communicate with and learn from each other. In the program, UW students could know about Chinese culture and learn Chinese by practicing it with volunteers personally. She encouraged all students to make full use of their study time in China to think much, ask more, experience more and communicate more, and to try their best to become cultural envoys of promoting China-U.S. cooperation and exchanges.

Besides, Executive Champion Zheng Huili of Worcester Polytechnic Institute Program “PROJECT-GO” made a speech and briefly introduced the program to all attendants. Vice-director Wang Yongsheng introduced BUCT to all students of the program and matters requiring attention to foreign students in China. Volunteer Representative Zheng Kaiyue made a speech and introduced voluntary language-partners for foreign students. The ceremony successfully ended up with friendly exchanges between Chinese and foreign students.
